After nearly 20 years of playing guitar and more than a decade of teaching, Mr. John’s guitar collection has only continued to grow. In recent years, he has started to turn his attention to building guitars, unlocking a whole new passion for music and learning new skills as well. Now with three homemade guitars in his rotation, Mr. John is stoked to bring this incredible experience to our Valotta students!
This spring, students age 13 and up are again invited to join our Build-Your-Own Guitar Masterclass, a five-week program that has students working hands-on with their own guitar kit through each step of the building process – prepping, painting, lacquering, wiring, and hardware / assembling – in a group setting. At the end of this masterclass, each student will get to bring home a real one-of-a kind guitar that they built along with tons of practical experience, all for less than the cost of a buying a new guitar!
Mr. John’s Build-Your-Own Guitar Workshop meets Mondays from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm over a five-week period (April 17th – May 15th) and is open to students age 13 and up. Tuition for this masterclass is based on two factors – the class itself is $200 (includes all materials, paints, lacquers, safety equipment, etc.) in addition to the guitar kit you choose (options available to view in the PDF below, average price of $195 per kit). Guitar Kit Options:
To streamline our guitar building masterclass while also offering variety to our students and families, I have compiled a list of several excellent kits to choose from. Please take a look below to see what might be best for you and your guitarist – once you select your ideal kit (subject to availability), please contact me directly at John.ValottaStudios@gmail.com. We will order all kits and add the cost to your invoice. Each kit needs to be inspected and cataloged before we start building, and this also gives me a chance to do any necessary prep work. Let me know if you have any questions, and happy searching!
