Our policies outline what is expected of our students and families as well as us, as the teachers and staff. We strongly encourage each family to read through these policies and keep them in mind. These rules and guidelines apply to each parent, student, and teacher to ensure a system of accountability so that we may continue to provide a fair and exceptional learning environment for everyone!
♬ Tuition is due on a monthly basis and must be paid at the first [private music lesson / group class / academic tutoring session / music therapy session] (“session“) of the month. Payment by cash or check (made payable to Valotta Studios) is preferred. Credit cards and online payments are also accepted with a processing fee of 3%.
♬ If tuition is not received by the end of the month, a $20 late fee will be automatically applied to your account. To help keep tuition payments prompt and accurate, all students receive automated invoice reminders at the beginning of each month.
♬ Your tuition payment is based on the number of sessions you will be taking during that month. Some group classes are one flat rate; specific details are available on the individual group class pages.
♬ Teachers are expected to create lesson plans and assign weekly practicing homework specific for the student’s needs. Students are expected to complete their weekly assigned practicing homework.
♬ Students are expected to come to sessions with all of their materials and instruments needed (with the exception of a piano or drum kit). All students should have access to an instrument at home to practice.
♬ If at any time you decide to discontinue sessions, we ask that you notify our office and finish any remaining lessons that you have paid for. Unused sessions cannot be refunded.
♬ Students are expected to attend their regularly scheduled sessions. Sessions will begin and end promptly on the part of the student and the teacher. If you are late for a session, you will forfeit any time lost.
♬ If a student must miss a session, at least 24 hours notice must be given to your teacher or our office staff. If a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, the session is forfeited and a make-up cannot be given. Forgetting to attend a scheduled session is not considered an excused absence. If a teacher must cancel a session, a make-up lesson will be given. If two consecutive sessions are missed without notice, you may be removed from our schedule.
♬ Make-ups must be scheduled within 30 days of an excused missed session. Your teacher will contact you with available dates and times when the make-up can take place. If the session is not made up within that time, the lesson will be forfeited. Unused make-up sessions CANNOT be credited to the next month’s tuition. Missed group classes generally do not have make-up options available. In special circumstances, a make-up class may be scheduled.
♬ We close for several major holidays each year: New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & Black Friday, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. On days that the studio closes, no make up lessons will need to be scheduled.
♬ During the winter months, we generally follow the Downingtown Area School District’s emergency weather closings. In the event of a studio closure or “all-virtual day”, you will be contacted directly via email by 12:00 pm that day.
♬ If your session is canceled due to weather, you will receive a make-up. Your teacher will email you with their available dates and times when the make-up can take place. If the session is not made up within 30 days from the date of the studio closure, the session will be forfeited.
