Emily McDonald is a recent graduate of Kutztown University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. There she studied violin under Dr. Mary Ogletree and Dr. Peter Isaacson. A violinist of 16 years, Emily has performed many concerts with the KU Orchestra as their concertmistress, as well as performing with other ensembles such as the Bucks County Symphony Orchestra, the Berks Sinfonietta, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Festival Orchestra, PMEA Festival Orchestra, and the 4 Nothin’ Symphony. Emily is a member of the Kutztown- based gypsy jazz band Gateau au Chocolat, and loves learning jazz and the art of improvisation on violin to compliment her classical training on the instrument. Emily is learning piano and guitar and sings in her free time. She is part of a violin duo called Heart and Scroll, which frequently performs for wedding ceremonies. She is also a private violin teacher, both independently and with Clemmer Music in Harleysville and Valotta Studios in Chester Springs. Emily is continuing her education at the graduate level, pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Therapy at Immaculata University. She recently attended and received special training through the Suzuki Association of the America’s “Every Child Can!” Course, hosted at Temple University. Emily believes in every child’s potential to experience the joy of learning a musical instrument.

“For several years now, Emily has been great with my son and daughter. In fact, my son (who started this year) was keen to learn violin just observing how Emily teaches his sister. She’s very attentive and gives her full concentration during their classes. She takes great care to help them learn new tunes and sends demonstration videos which will help the kids learn better. She takes time to help them understand when they have trouble and she is very thorough. The kids adore her and love learning with her!”
