Lia Criscuolo is currently in her fourth year of studies at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, pursuing a double major in Music Education and Cello Performance. She has also added a Minor of Music History. A cellist of 13 years, she is the principal cellist of the WCU Symphony Orchestra, principal cellist of the WCU Chamber Orchestra, and participates in the WCU Cello Ensemble. She is currently under the tutelage of Dr. Ovidiu Marinescu, and has received training from Janifer Dixon, Peter Brye, and Jesus Morales in the past. In addition to the cello, as well as the violin and viola, Lia has been studying piano since 6th grade and received two semesters of comprehensive piano lessons from some of WCU’s finest piano instructors. A curious musician, Lia has been playing the viola da gamba (ask her about it, it’s a very cool instrument!) in WCU’s Collegium Musicum for four semesters, and has been taking private lessons for two semesters. She loves to perform on her cello, whether it be for family and friends in a recital, an appreciative audience for a community orchestra, or in the pit orchestra for a musical. Lia finds great joy in teaching students not only how to refine their skills on their instruments, but to love creating music and using it as an emotional outlet.
