Maria Seffrin is currently pursuing a dual degree in Music Education and Music Performance with a minor in Music History at West Chester University, where she studies clarinet with Dr. Karen Dannessa. She is a member of the West Chester University Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Winds, and various smaller ensembles. As a top member of the clarinet studio at West Chester, Maria has performed in masterclasses given by Dr. Adrian Sandi (Ensemble Signal and Periapsis Music and Dance), Dr. Christopher Nichols (University of Delaware) and Ricardo Morales (Principal Clarinetist, Philadelphia Orchestra.) Additionally, while focusing on her degree in education, Maria has worked with the Upper Darby High School marching band and is currently on staff with the Burlington Township High School marching band in New Jersey. Her studies in performance have given her the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, tour China with West Chester’s Wind Ensemble, and audition for multiple military concert band clarinet positions. Maria is constantly taking lessons with clarinetists from across the country to continue her growth as a musician. She looks forward to helping each student at Valotta Studios develop their skills and passion for music!
