SALEM BACKENSTOSS
GUITAR, PIANO, UKULELE, & STRINGS

Salem Backenstoss is a multi-instrumentalist from Reading, Pennsylvania, currently studying Music Therapy at West Chester University’s Wells School of Music. With a concentration in cello, they are part of the West Chester University Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and frequently performs in Pit Orchestras outside of West Chester. Salem began playing cello at 8 years old and quickly developed a passion for music; always taking up an opportunity to learn another instrument. They have taught private lessons for two years prior to joining the studio, and are experienced in teaching and playing folk music, fiddle techniques, classical string repertoire, contemporary/popular music, and adaptive music. Salem’s biggest goals for their students are to reach as high and as far as their students are interested in reaching, aiming to structure lessons around a student’s interests and passions. Outside of their degree program, Salem enjoys creating art, traveling, hiking, spending time with their pet cat, and making music with their friends!
